BRAND PROFILE OF DAIRY PRODUCTS NDA Assisted Projects In
1989, the Medium Term Dairy Development Program (MTLDP) was approved.
The National Dairy Authority (NDA),
formerly the Philippine Dairy Corporation (PDC),
established three (3) new dairy plants in Cebu, Davao City,
Misamis Oriental. In the latter part of
1994, the Dairy Development Program Component of the MTADP
implemented the setting-up of an integrated dairy modules in four (4) new
areas in Region 6 (Pontevedra, Capiz and Manapla, Negros Occidental),
Region 8 (Ormoc, Leyte) and Region 11 (Sto. Tomas, Davao). NDA
also assisted different special projects in Northern and Southern Luzon
particularly in Bulacan,
Baguio and
in the Bicol Region. NORTHERN MINDANAO FEDERATION
OF DAIRY COOPERATIVE (NMFDC) As
early as 1982, the Northern Mindanao (Misamis Oriental & Bukidnon)
began its dairy operation. There were three (3) batches of animals
infused,
dispersed in different primary cooperatives with each beneficiary
having 1-3 cows under his care.
On the following year, these cooperatives set up the Northern
Mindanao Federation of Dairy Cooperatives (NMFDC)
bonding together in achieving their primary aim as the number one
source of local milk in the region.
With the establishment of a processing plant in El Salvador,
Misamis Oriental, the NMFDC was
able to formulate different product lines
which are now available in the market.
“Highland Fresh Dairy Products” is the registered brand name of NMFDC. There are seven (7) existing products in 1999. In year, 2000 there are three (3) additional flavored milk processed in the area.
SOUTHERN TAGALOG (LAGUNA AND CAVITE) The
Southern Tagalog project followed the historical route of NMFDC.
They have formed a federation called “Katipunan ng Kooperatiba ng
Maggagatas, Ink. (KKMI)” as the marketing arm of their dairy products.
At present,
they
process their products at the Dairy Technology Research Institute (DTRI)
in Los Banos, Laguna.
Their
various dairy products carry the brand name of
“Gatas Pinoy”.
BATANGAS
DAIRY COOPERATIVE (BADACO) The
Batangas Dairy Cooperative (BADACO), an independent and active cooperative
in Southern Tagalog manufactures four (4) major product lines with the
brand name “Milk Joy-Dairy Products”.
Starbucks coffee shoppe is among the several clients supplied by
Badaco of Milk Joy fresh milk.
