SCHOOL MILK FEEDING PROGRAM

The NDA participated in a multi-agency undertaking aimed at formulating and expanded milk feeding program for children pursuant to a memorandum issued by President Estrada on 19 October 1999. The said undertaking was spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH).

In a related development, the NDA made representations with members of the Congress for added support for school milk feeding. Positive responses were elicited. Sen. Ramon B. Magsaysay, Jr. filed Senate Bill No. 1747 otherwise known as the Milk Feeding Act of 1999. This proposed; legislation seeks to institutionalize the government's milk feeding program with an initial funding of Php300 million to be provided by the National Government. A similar measure, HB 110744, was filed by Rep. Leonardo Montemayor at the House of Representatives.
