STA. MARIA DAIRY FARMERS MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE, INC. (SMDFMPCI)

The Sta. Maria Dairy Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative, Inc. (SMDFMPCI) is considered to be the oldest dairy cooperative in the Northern part of Luzon. It was established thru the Sta. Maria Development Project that was initiated then by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI). On April 16, 1989, through a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Agriculture, the operation and management of the Sta. Maria Dairy Plant was turned over to the Sta. Maria Dairy Farmers’ Association, Inc.

Its milk products are marketed in Metro Manila under the brand name “Sta. Maria Dairy Products”. SMDFMCI processes several dairy product lines in different sizes and packaging.

Albay Dairy Farmers Cooperative (ADFC)

· Albay Dairy Farm (ADF), is a government stock farm located in Camalig, Albay, Bicol. It is managed by Norma Siapno Buar, Plant Manager with counterparts in Local Government Unit (LGU) named: Marietta Dumaguis and Felicito Manrique.

· ADF has only seven (7) staff, of which three (3) staffs are doing marketing and four (4) for processing. Of the four (4) staffs in processing, two (2) of them are doing the AI and Breeding services.

ADF has processed different products under the brand name “FRESH”. The following Fresh products famous in their areas are:

SORSOGON DAIRY FARM

· Sorsogon Dairy Farm is located in Barangay Cabid-an, Sorsogon, Sorsogon, 4 km. from the town proper. It has an area of 52.29 hectares. It was established in 1964 through R.A. 4041 primarily to develop and promote dairying by setting up dairy projects within the province through dairy cattle production.

· It operated as dairy farm from 1964 to 1988. Animals were raised for milk production. The farm also operated as a dairy processing plant.

· In 1992, Sorsogon Dairy Farm became one of the research Outreach Station of DA-Region 5. Through Administrative Order No. 19 series of 1991. It was renamed Sorsogon Research Outreach Station, as one of the satellite stations of the Bicol Integrated Agricultural Research Center.

· In 1995, through the initiative of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the National Dairy Authority (NDA), Sorsogon Dairy Farm was evaluated for rehabilitation. In 1996, the NDA, BAI and DA-Region 5 entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to rehabilitate this station.

· On the 3^rd quarter of 1997, when pasture areas were already established, 91 heads of dairy cattle were delivered to Sorsogon by the National Dairy Authority as part of the MOA. First flow of milk was recorded on September 5, 1997 eight years after it was discontinued.
